Let us be the first to welcome you to Hillersden.
Hillersden is a labor of love for the Forlong family. As a family, we are prepared to out-care the wine industry. We value faithfulness and courage, and take great pride and joy in sharing our wines with with the world.
In 2013, our family traded city life for the opportunity to plant roots in Marlborough, New Zealand. Moving into the old wooden farmhouse and embracing the dirt and cold, we took up the challenge of creating the first family-owned single designation wines of the Upper Wairau Valley.
– Caleb Forlong
The vineyard has grown and blossomed in this unforgiving landscape; a product of the sustainably engineered approach implemented by lifetime engineer and innovator Bruce Forlong.
As a family and vineyard team, we are always hard at work innovating to create new possibilities in the fields of solar energy, irrigation technologies, frost management and finding alternate uses for vineyard waste.
Each of the three Forlong sons share the responsibility in the management, marketing, and the development of the Hillersden Vineyard & Farm. Caleb and Matthew work day to day on the front lines of the brand. Jeremy, the oldest son and career veterinarian, frequently finds himself on Hillersden getting up close and personal with the farm animals and lending a hand where needed (and he can’t wait for the day his two young sons will join him in our new family tradition).
