Hillersden – Pinot Noir 2014

Pinot is the ultimate wine nerd’s wine. For us it’s all about finding balance between concentration and extraction. We love Pinot that has fruit and oak weight, mouth-watering acid and an elegant finish. 2014 was a great year for Pinot Noir in Marlborough – grab a glass and we’re sure you will agree.

This wine shows lifted aromas of fresh raspberry and dark plums with background notes of dried herb and savoury oak. Whilst initially quite playful on the nose, the wine settles into a complex array of dark berry and alluring florals. Soft and supple, this seductive Pinot Noir shows brightness and freshness on the palate, with lingering nuances of blueberry and mocha. Serve in a generous Pinot Noir glass for a sensational Pinot experience!

Marlborough is becoming recognized as a New World leader in Pinot Noir production. Pinot Noir here sees a cool but dry growing season. Wines produced here are bright ruby in color but earthy and fruity, with mouth-watering acidity and silky, elegant structure.

The fruit was picked into open top fermenters where it underwent a short period of cold-soaking prior to a wild yeast ferment. The ferments were hand plunged daily before being pressed to barrel where it underwent natural malolactic fermentation. The Pinot was matured in French Oak for 9 months adding another layer of complexity to an already layered, nuanced wine.
